The lower level of Preemption House
had an amazing array of dioramas & paintings
which depicted the early history of Naperville. |

& in wagons, bringing with them
all they owned & all the hope
& determination it would take
to tame a new land.

The display has a large number of paintings by this artist
& it would be worth your while
to pay a visit to see them
when you have the time
& are in the area.
Naper Settlement is located next to NCHS,
& you'll recognize some of the
buildings located there,
such as the Martin Mitchell Museum.

A tour of the
settlement grounds
affords the
opportunity to walk
through several
historic
buildings,
such as a residence,
fully furnished
& with a docent
to explain daily life in that
period.
At left is a scene
from the settlement.
